FOSSIL

FOSSIL, in the context of BBSing, refers to an old 8086/8088 compatible serial driver interface called the [F]ido [O]pus [S]eadog [S]erial [I]nterface [L]ayer.

It primarily was a used as a replacement for the abysmal COM port support in the PC-BIOS, but used a similar (int 14h) interface.
